4 things we should start normalizing
What Would You Add to the List? Embracing Unapologetic Beauty & Empowerment
OK, real talk. We need to stop apologizing for stuff, starting with this:
- Talking about how much we get paid
The sooner we’re open about our salaries, the sooner we can be genuinely competitive in the workplace. Money is not a dirty word. And knowledge is power.
- Bodies of all shapes and sizes
The body positivity movement has made a huge difference in how we perceive our own and other people’s bodies. So how come our feeds are still full of faddy weight loss programs, ads for so-called ‘shapewear’, and pills to make our bellies disappear? All bodies are normal and beautiful. The end.
- While we’re on the subject of bodies …
Let’s see more representations of disability in the media and advertising.
- Having an STD
Everyone gets them. Yet the stigma attached prevents many of us from seeking help. It’s nothing to be ashamed of, folks. Let’s be real.
What else would you add? Let us know and we’ll share it with the rest of the Beautyque community. Ending shame is a powerful thing.
At Beautyque, we believe in creating a space where every voice is valued. Share your thoughts with us and join the Beautyque community in this powerful movement. Together, we redefine beauty standards, celebrate diversity, and empower each other to love ourselves unconditionally. As singer Sinead O'Connor beautifully put it, "I love normalizing my black-ass elbows. I think it's beautiful."
