When it’s time to throw out your beauty products

While we know that YOU know your beloved beauty stash has a shelf life, it can be hard to throw out those items you spent so much time (and money) hunting down.
Just last month, one of our loyal customers, Emily, faced a common dilemma. She loved her high-end foundation but noticed her skin becoming increasingly irritated. Reluctantly, she checked the expiration date and realized it had long passed. After switching to a new bottle, not only did her irritation clear up, but her skin's overall appearance improved dramatically. Emily's experience is a powerful reminder of the importance of staying vigilant about the shelf life of our beauty products.
So gird your loins, our friend. Because this is the hard truth about how long your beauty and skincare arsenal remains effective, and when holding onto them could actually cause you harm.
Because expired products can become a breeding ground for harmful bacteria, mold, and other microorganisms. Applying them to your skin can lead to irritation, redness, breakouts, or even more severe allergic reactions.

Make-up

Ever wondered why mascaras need to be replaced so frequently? It's all down to their liquid nature and the fact they're used close to a sensitive area – the eyes. This makes them more susceptible to bacterial growth. Understanding the science behind product expiration can help you make better choices for your skin's health.
Mascara should be replaced every 3 months, while powders and eyeshadows can last up to two years. Liquid foundations generally last about a year, so keep an eye (and nose) on changes in odor or texture.

Dome Black Magic mascara
